About Us
Historic Pullman Empowerment Organization (HPEO) is a community-driven nonprofit rooted in Chicago’s Pullman neighborhood, dedicated to empowering residents across generations through environmental stewardship, gardening, education, camping, and cultural preservation.
Through initiatives like the Passion of Pullman Garden, youth outdoor programs, historical bike tours, and community events, HPEO connects people to nature, local history, and one another. We create spaces where residents can grow food, share stories, build leadership skills, and shape the future of their community.
Our work goes beyond the garden—addressing sustainability, health, economic opportunity, and neighborhood revitalization—ensuring that every resident feels seen, supported, and part of a thriving Pullman community.
